Simone Biles Returns to the Olympics, Scores Bronze in Balance Beam

Simone Biles took the world by storm with her decision to pull out of several major Olympics events, but she made a glorious comeback on Tuesday. The groundbreaking gymnast took part in the women's balance beam final and walked away with a bronze medal. Biles came in third at this event after scoring 14.000 for her routine. Guan Chenchen from China won the gold medal with 14.633, while her teammate Tang Xijing walked away with silver with her score of 14.233. In a press conference after the event, Biles said she’s "pretty happy" to win the medal, but admitted she wasn’t expecting it and simply wanted to do a good beam set. Her triumph comes about a week after she pulled out of all the previous individual events. She cited mental health concerns as the reason for her exit and her decision sparked a conversation about the emotional wellbeing of professional athletes. "To bring up the topic of mental health, I think it should be talked about a lot more, especially with athletes… At the end of the day, we're not just entertainment. We're human, and there are things going on behind the scenes that we're also trying to juggle with, as well, on top of sports," said Biles.
