Timo Werner Joins Tottenham on Loan from RB Leipzig

Timo Werner left the Premier League behind after leaving Chelsea for RB Leipzig in 2022, but he’s gearing up for a comeback. The former Chelsea reject joined Tottenham Hotspur after they agreed to sign him on loan from the Bundesliga team. Werner’s six-month loan agreement with the Spurs includes an option to buy, worth as much as €20 million, leaving the door open for the 27-year-old to join the Spurs permanently at the end of the season. He’ll join the team after passing the medical, and Tottenham will cover his wages for the rest of the season. Leipzig boss Marco Rose confirmed Werner’s loan in an interview with Sky Germany and wished him the best of luck in the Premier League. "It's right that Timo wants to go on loan. Timo would like to go to the European Championship. We wish him all the best and are keeping our fingers crossed for him," said Rose. Werner spent most of his career in Leipzig, but he also had a brief spell with Chelsea, after joining them for a reported €53 million in 2020. His time with the Blues was short-lived and he returned to Leipzig in 2022, after scoring 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea.
