Tom Brady Officially Announces His Retirement After 22 Seasons

Rumors about Tom Brady’s potential retirement have been circling for quite some time, and he finally made things official. The record-breaking NFL quarterback announced he’s stepping away from the game after 22 seasons and seven Super Bowl wins. Brady’s announcement comes shortly after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers failed to qualify for the Super Bowl after losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs last month. After taking some time to weigh his options, he took to social media to announce his retirement. “I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention. I've done a lot of reflecting the past week and have asked myself difficult questions. And I am so proud of what we have achieved,” wrote Brady on Instagram. The NFL legend also added it’s impossible to succeed if “a 100% competitive commitment isn't there”. He decided that he's not going to make that competitive commitment anymore because it’s time to leave the field of play to “the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes.” Brady’s rise to stardom started in 2000 when he joined the New England Patriots and led them to their first Super Bowl title during his second season. He scored another five Super Bowl victories with this team, before winning his seventh title with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, after joining them in 2020 as a free agent. Brady established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history and broke many major records over the past two decades. He has more Super Bowl wins, appearances, and MVP titles than any other player in the franchise history and his legacy will live on, even after his retirement.
