Verstappen Beats Alonso and Heavy Rain to Win Monaco Grand Prix

This year’s Monaco Grand Prix was one wild ride, especially after a heavy downpour hit the track mid-race. That didn’t stop Max Verstappen from continuing his domination and beating Fernando Alonso to score another epic victory. Verstappen took the first pole and the second win of his career at the Monaco Grand Prix this year. He was in the safe lead for most of the race, but his victory was put in jeopardy after his team chose to delay his pit stop to coincide it with the rain. Despite many obstacles on his path, Verstappen managed to outrace his competition and win the most challenging race of the season so far on Sunday at the Circuit de Monaco. "It was quite a difficult one! I didn't want to go long on my first stint, but I had to stay out when the rain came down and then it was very tricky to drive. It was incredibly slippery and quite difficult… It's nice to win and super-nice to win in this weather!" said Verstappen. This victory cemented Verstappen’s lead at the top of the World Championship rankings ahead of his Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, who finished second in Monaco.
