Vladimir Tarasenko Signs $5 Million Deal with Ottawa Senators

There’s been a lot of uncertainty surrounding Vladimir Tarasenko’s future after he became an unrestricted free agent, but we finally know where he’ll be next season. Vladi signed a one-year $5 million deal with the Ottawa Senators after leaving the New York Rangers. According to The Athletic's Jeremy Rutherford, the Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, and San Jose Sharks also expressed interest in Tarasenko before he chose Ottawa as his new home. His new deal is worth $5 million and it comes with a full no-trade clause. The past few months have been pretty rocky for Tarasenko after the St. Louis Blues traded him to the Rangers back in February. He was part of this team for an entire decade and admitted he felt anxious in the face of trade talks back in February. “Obviously, I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen. Sometimes it’s hard to clear your mind to just play hockey, so you think about it a lot. But like I said, you can control what you can control, and that’s what I’m planning to do for the rest of the season,” Tarasenko told The Athletic. The 31-year-old played 31 games with the New York Rangers before being traded to the Senators and scored eight goals and 13 assists with this team.
