Wayne Rooney Appointed as Birmingham City’s New Manager

Wayne Rooney went down in history as one of the best English football players of all time, and he’s plotting his Premier League comeback. The former England captain has been appointed as the new manager of EFL Championship club Birmingham City, and he’s hoping he could lead them to the Premier League. Rooney’s managerial career kicked off shortly after he retired from playing professional football in 2021. He kicked things off by coaching Derby County but eventually resigned after the club was relegated to League One. He then had a brief stint with D.C. United for a single season before they mutually agreed to part ways at the end of the 2023 season. Rooney is now hoping to turn things around in Birmingham, and he signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with this EFL Championship club. The former England captain is hoping they’ll be promoted to the Premier League, and he thinks that’s possible after seeing the ambitions of the club. "I think there's a lot of work to be done throughout the football club. The Premier League is where we want to get to. It's an ambition of mine, one of the club's, and we're putting everything in place to make sure we do that in the near future," said Rooney.
