Brooks Koepka Wins LIV Jeddah, But Talor Gooch Crowned as Season Champion

The LIV Golf League season is coming to a close, and the recent LIV Golf Jeddah in Saudi Arabia served as one of its final tournaments. Brooks Koepka defeated Talor Gooch in a play-off to lift the trophy, but Gooch still claimed the season’s overall championship prize worth £14.8 million. Five-time major winner Koepka finished on 14 under par after three rounds at the Royal Greens course in Jeddah after hitting a two-under 68. Gooch was right behind him, but Koepka eventually managed to win the play-off with a birdie at the second extra hole. Gooch collected £14.8 million as the season's overall champion, with a total of 192 individual points. Australia's 2022 Open champion Cameron Smith came in second, while Koepka took the third spot and earned £3.3 million for his latest win. Like many golf players who made a switch to Saudi-backed LIV Golf, Koepka came under fire, but he doesn’t seem to be affected by the negative comments. He recently slammed “country club kids” who criticized his decision to make a switch. “You think I care what people say about me? I just had three surgeries, and I’m supposed to turn down $130 million? I grew up with nothing. After signing that contract, the first person I called was my mom. We both cried,” said Koepka, according to golf writer Alan Shipnuck.
