Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku Joins Inter Milan on a Season Long Loan

It’s only been a year since Romelu Lukaku left Inter Milan to join Chelsea, but he’s getting ready to go back. The Belgian striker is taking a break from playing for the Blues after being sent back to Inter Milan on a season-long loan. Chelsea raised the stakes when they re-signed Lukaku for a club-record fee of £97.5 million last year. He already played for the Blues between 2011 and 2014 and made his Premier League debut with this club after starting his senior career with Anderlecht. Inter Milan agreed to pay a loan fee of about £6.9 million for the Belgian striker, who helped them win Serie A in 2021. Lukaku is no stranger to loans, as Chelsea loaned him to West Bromwich Albion and Everton during his first stint with the club. Lukaku previously told Sky Sport Italia that he’s not happy with the way he left things before exiting Inter and that he’s hoping to come back one day. "I want to say a big apology to the Inter fans because I think the way I left should have been different. I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more," said Lukaku.
