Chris Sale Signs $38 Million Deal with Atlanta Braves

After several years with the Boston Red Sox, Chris Sale is finally ready to move on. The 34-year-old pitcher will continue his journey in Atlanta, after signing a two-year deal with The Braves, reportedly worth $38 million. Sale was supposed to make $27.5 million in 2024 under his old contract, but his deal significantly changed after Boston sent Atlanta $17 million to cover his remaining salary at the time of the trade. He’ll now make $16 million next season and $22 million in 2025, and his new deal comes with a 2026 club option for $18 million. Sale departed Boston after being traded to the Braves in exchange for Vaughn Grissom, and he feels it was the right decision to make. "Leaving Boston wasn't easy. At the same time, I felt like this was an opportunity to put me in a situation to help myself and to help them, too. I owed them something because the last few years haven't lived up to what I wanted to be there. It was in favor of both parties," said Sale. The seven-time All-Star has been with the Red Sox since 2017, but the past few years with the team haven’t been easy. He has made just 31 starts over the past four seasons after spending a significant amount of time on the injured list.
