Craig Anderson Signing One-Day Deal to Retire with Ottawa Senators

Craig Anderson spent most of his career in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators, and he’ll retire as a part of this team. The veteran ice hockey player signed a one-day deal with his old team so he could officially retire from the NHL as a Senator. The 42-year-old announced he’s planning to retire at the end of the 2022-23 season and finished his career with the Buffalo Sabres’ victory against the Ottawa Senators. He’s now getting ready to hit the ice for one last time and drop the puck for the Senators against the Sabres on Tuesday after signing a one-day deal with his former team. Even after retiring from playing, Anderson isn’t planning to completely leave the NHL behind. The Sabres announced he’ll serve as the team’s hockey liaison earlier this week. “Craig Anderson’s voice, experience, and love for the game have been invaluable components to our team’s growth over the past two seasons. Our players have benefited greatly from the habits and lessons he picked up during his accomplished 20-year career. We are thrilled that Craig will continue to be a guiding presence for the Sabres,” said the team’s general manager Kevyn Adams. Craig Anderson won over 300 games over his 22 years as a goaltender in the NHL. In addition to spending almost a decade with the Senators and playing his final two seasons for the Sabers, he was also a part of the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, and Washington Capitals.
