Cristiano Ronaldo Joins Saudi Club Al Nassr for €200 Million Per Year

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has been in limbo ever since his controversial exit from Manchester United, and we finally know where he’s headed next. The Portuguese superstar signed a deal with the Saudi club Al Nassr, worth €200 million per year. Al Nassr announced Ronaldo’s signing on social media, sharing a photo of the football icon holding his new jersey. The photo was followed by a caption that read, “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves.” In a separate statement, Ronaldo said he’s “thrilled for a new experience in a different league and a different country”, backtracking on his previous comment that he wants to finish his career at the top level instead of playing for Middle Eastern clubs. Ronaldo famously parted ways with United back in November, following a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan. He was heavily critical of the club’s current management, saying he felt betrayed by Ten Hag, and his contract was terminated shortly after that. Ronaldo’s new deal is the highest salary ever paid to a professional footballer, and it will keep him in Al Nassr until 2025. The deal comes with an annual guaranteed salary of €90 million but can go up to €200 million with commercial and sponsorship deals. It’s also been reported that Ronaldo received a signing-on bonus worth around €100 million.
