Gabby Douglas Confirms Her Comeback & Eyes Paris Games Return

It’s been years since we’ve seen Gabby Douglas compete, but she’s finally gearing up for an epic comeback. The Olympic champion is the latest gymnast to announce her return, and she’s back to training with the goal of making it to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Douglas teased her return on Instagram and shared a training video that shows her preparing for her comeback. The 28-year-old gymnast said that she’s beyond grateful and excited to get back out on the floor, while also adding she knows she has a huge task ahead of her. "For many years, I’ve had an ache in my heart. But I didn’t want to keep carrying anger, pain, sadness, or regret and through my tears and hurt, I’ve found peace. I wanted to find the joy again for the sport that I absolutely love doing,” said Douglas. Douglas made history as the first Black woman to win the Olympic all-around title at the London Olympics in 2012. She later represented the US at the 2016 Olympics in Rio Olympics as a member of the “Final Five” and helped the team win their second consecutive gold medal. She withdrew from gymnastics following this victory and hasn’t competed ever since.
