Golden State Warriors Top Forbes' List of Most Valuable NBA Teams in 2023

The Golden State Warriors failed to make it to the NBA finals this year, but this was still an amazing year for the team from a financial standpoint. Forbes just shared their annual list of the most valuable NBA teams, and the Warriors came on top with a $7.7 billion valuation. According to Forbes’ new report, the Warriors generated $765 million this past season, 48% more than any other team. This number represents the net of arena debt service and revenue sharing during the 2022-23 season. They’re also the league’s most valuable team for the second year in a row at $7.7 billion, up 10% from past year. Golden State is followed by The Knicks ($6.6 billion) and the Los Angeles Lakers ($6.4 billion) in second and third place, while the rest of the NBA teams are very far behind. Every other franchise has a valuation of below $5 billion, including the Boston Celtics ($4.7 billion) and Los Angeles Clippers ($4.65 billion), rounding up the top five. Forbes also reported that the average NBA team is worth $3.85 billion, an increase of 35% from last year, powered by high-profile majority stake sales of the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets. They’re also predicting that valuations will keep increasing, as the NBA rakes in approximately $13 billion this season, before debt payments and revenue sharing.
