Katie Taylor Retains Lightweight Title After Defeating Amanda Serrano

Katie Taylor has been ruling the world of lightweight boxing for quite some time, and she’s proven her domination once again at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. She regained her undisputed lightweight title after defeating Amanda Serrano. The face-off between two boxers was billed as “the biggest women's fight of all time” because it was the first women's boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden. Taylor and Serrano lived up to the hype and gave us a night to remember at the iconic New York City arena. The fight was tough to call until the very last moment, but the judges eventually ruled in Taylor’s favor. She ended up winning via split decision, after two judges scored it 97-93 and 96-93 for her, while a third had it 96-94 for Serrano. The Irish boxing champion described her latest fight as the best night of her career and praised Serrano for bringing out the best in her. "She's a phenomenal fighter. A great, great person. It was a privilege to fight her again. I knew I was going to have to dig deep and go to the trenches. I have the heart as well as the skill. I knew I was going to be able to pull through,” said Taylor.
