Kevin Durant Staying with Brooklyn Nets Next Season

After weeks of speculations about his potential transfer, Kevin Durant finally decided where his future lies. The twelve-time NBS All-Star will stay with the Brooklyn Nets for another season after coming to terms that work for both sides. The Nets general manager Sean Marks confirmed Durant’s return after meeting with their star player and having long conversations about his future, along with the coach Steve Nash and governors Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai. "We have agreed to move forward with our partnership. We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn," said Marks in a statement. This announcement comes after a summer-long uncertainty about Durant’s future in Brooklyn, following the team’s disappointing season. Durant initially asked for a trade on June 30, but later changed his mind and decided to stay in Brooklyn after signing a four-year extension last offseason worth $198 million. Durant signed with the Nets in 2019, after playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors. He took a year-long absence to deal with an Achilles injury and officially made his debut with the Nets in late 2020. He’s expected to return in the Net’s season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 19.
