Kyrie Irving Reportedly Requests a Trade from Brooklyn Nets

Kyrie Irving’s time with the Brooklyn Nets has been pretty rocky, and rumor has it that it might soon come to a close. With a new trade deadline nearing, the All-Star guard reportedly requested a trade, with several potential trade destinations already emerging. According to recent reports, Irving wants to move ahead of the February 9 trade deadline, and he has informed the Nets of his plans. If he doesn’t find a suitable trade destination, leaving the franchise as a free agent in July is also an option. Nothing is official just yet, but several potential trade destinations have already emerged, including Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Clippers. The rumors about the player’s potential trade come just a week after his agent and stepmother, Shetellia Irving, revealed they’re open to signing an extension with the Nets. “I have reached out to the Nets regarding this. We have had no significant conversations to date. The desire is to make Brooklyn home, with the right type of extension, which means the ball is in the Nets’ court to communicate now if their desire is the same,” she told Bleacher Report. This isn’t the first time that Irving expressed an interest to leave Brooklyn. It was rumored he’ll seek a trade at the end of the last season, but he eventually opted into his $37 million player option and stayed with the Nets.
