Kyrie Irving Scores Season-High 48 Points to Lead Brooklyn Nets Past Utah Jazz

The Brooklyn Nets played Friday night’s match without Kevin Durant, but that didn’t stop them from scoring an epic win. The Nets defeated the Utah Jazz 117-106, largly thanks to Kyrie Irving, who netted season-high 48 points to lead his side to victory. Irving was on top of his game on Friday night and accounted for 18 of the Nets’ 43 baskets by himself. He scored a season-high 48 points and eight 3-pointers, including four in the fourth quarter alone, when he was shooting 70% from the field. Irving also led Brooklyn’s scoreboard with a season-high 11 rebounds and six assists, and he seemed satisfied with his performance. “I put my body on the line and lead by example. When I can get it going on the defensive end and do the little things, it really makes a difference for me and I’m dialed in,” said Irving post-match. The Nets center Nic Claxton, who added 20 points for Brooklyn against the Utah Jazz, praised Irving and said “he’s just in a different world” when he’s making big shots. This was a crucial match for the Nets because it marks their first win since Kevin Durant took some time to recover after sustaining a knee injury. The team initially gave him a two-week timeline, but it’s still unclear when he’s going to return.
