LeBron James Breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s All-Time Scoring Record

LeBron James has been on the quest to become NBA’s top scorer for quite some time, and he finally made it happen! King James netted his 38,388th career point with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record. The Lakers clashed with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, and everyone expected it would be James’ big night. He was just 36 points away from breaking Abdul-Jabbar’s record, and he crossed the finish line by scoring 38 points in the Lakers’ 133-130 defeat to Oklahoma City. The NBA veteran made a speech during a brief break that honored his achievement and credited his fans for this success. "Everybody that has ever been a part of this run with me the last 20-plus years, I want to say thank you so much because I wouldn't be me without all of you. You all helped. Your passion and sacrifices helped me to get to this point," said James. He also paid homage to Abdul-Jabbar, saying it’s very humbling to be in the presence of such a legend, while he set in the stands at the Lakers home court. Abdul-Jabbar held the all-time scoring record since 1984, and applauded James’ big moment, saying he wants other players to break his records, as well, because doing so is “one more benchmark of human progress.”
