LeBron James Makes History as First NBA Player to Reach 40,000 Points

LeBron James has broken countless records throughout his career, and his latest might be the most impressive one yet. The King became the first player in NBA history to reach the 40,000-point mark during the Los Angeles Lakers’ latest face-off with the Denver Nuggets. It’s been over a year since James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for most points in NBA history, and he just set another major career milestone. James finished his latest game with the Lakers with 26 points, bringing his career total to 40,017 points, becoming the first player to ever cross the 40,000-point mark. He also extended his record double-digit scoring streak to 1,205 games. James addressed this history-making moment while talking to reporters, and said he’s always happy to acknowledge them, but they’re not his priority. “Being the first player to do something is pretty cool in this league, because you just know the history, you know the greats that have come through the league and then you see some of the greats on the floor tonight. It was just great to compete,” he said post-game. Despite his best efforts, James failed to lead the Lakers to victory against the Nuggets, and Denver ended up winning 124-114 on Saturday night.
