Lionel Messi Confirms Move to Inter Miami After PSG Exit

There’s been a lot of speculations about Lionel Messi’s future after it became obvious that he’s leaving Paris St-Germain, and we finally know where he’s headed. Despite getting lucrative offers from other European and Saudi clubs, the Argentina football legend decided to sign a deal with American club Inter Miami. Messi told newspapers Diario Sport and Mundo Deportivo that he chose to leave Europe and head to Miami – and it wasn’t an easy decision to make. After his plan to return to Barcelona fell through, he wanted to leave it all behind and move to America. "After winning the World Cup and not being able to go to Barca, it's time to go to MLS to live football in a different way and enjoy my day-to-day life more. Obviously with the same responsibility and desire to win, and to do things well, but with more calm," said Messi in a statement. Messi’s contract with PSG is set to expire later this month, and he was hoping he’ll be able to return to Barcelona after becoming a free agent. He left the Spanish club in 2021 due to “financial and structural obstacles” after 16 years, and FFP limitations once again came in the way of his potential return. Messi revealed another European club expressed interest in him, and he reportedly received a lucrative offer from the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, but he decided to leave the spotlight and focus on his family after it became clear that a move to Barcelona is not in the cards. “After living what I lived through and the exit that I had (from Barcelona), I didn't want to come back to be in the same situation: to wait and see what was going to happen or leave my future in the hands of another person," said Messi.
