Liverpool Kick Off League Cup Semi-Finals by Defeating Fulham

The League Cup semi-finals kicked off this week and gave us two pretty epic matches. Liverpool emerged as the early front-runner to win the tournament after making an epic comeback against Fulham on Wednesday, with two goals scored in just two minutes. Liverpool and Fulham came face to face at Anfield on Wednesday, and things weren’t looking great for the Reds in the first half. Willian gave his side a 1-0 lead 19 minutes into the first half, and Liverpool struggled to regain control from that point on. They came into the second half with more confidence and made a glorious comeback with an unexpected turnaround. Curtis Jones evened out the score with his 68th-minute strike, and he was followed by the substitute Cody Gakpo just two minutes later, who led Liverpool to a well-deserved 2-1 win. "It's the mentality in the group, in the club, in the city. Everybody is like this. Just keep going no matter what happens. We showed it again today. If you've got that mentality, a lot of beautiful things can happen," said Gakpo post-match. Liverpool and Fulham will face off again on January 24, but the Reds remain a strong candidate to reach the final against either Middlesbrough or Chelsea next month.
