Los Angeles Lakers Win Inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament

After a lot of anticipation, the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament reached its final stage this past weekend, and it was a night to remember for the Los Angeles Lakers. They defeated the Indiana Pacers to be crowned the NBA Cup champions, while LeBron James was named the tournament’s MVP. All 30 NBA teams participated in the debut In-Season Tournament, and their wins and losses during the regular season games counted towards the NBA Cup group stage standings. The LA Lakers were one of the teams to make it to the knockout stage, and they defeated the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Pelicans on their way to the final. They faced the Pacers on December 9 at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip, beating them 123-109. It was a big night for Anthony Davis, who recorded 41 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists for the Lakers, helping them secure this historic victory. It was also the night to remember for the NBA legend LeBron James, who was named the first In-Season Tournament MVP after scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists in the final. "We made history. Any time you're on the right side of the history, you'll take it. The first In-Season Tournament belongs to the Los Angeles Lakers, and that will never be topped," James told the reporters following their win.
