Luka Doncic Says He Let His Country Down After Slovenia’s EuroBasket Loss

Luka Doncic had a pretty historic run at the 2022 EuroBasket, but his last game was quite disappointing. The NBA superstar said that he “let his country” down after Slovenia lost its spot in the semi-finals to Poland with a narrow defeat on Wednesday. To be fair, Slovenia only lost by three points after a series of pretty impressive games. Poland was stronger on Wednesday night and scored a 90-87 win and a spot in Friday’s semi-finals against France. Doncic didn’t take this loss well following his weak performance in Slovenia’s final EuroBasket game. He finished the game with 15 points on 5-of-15 shooting, in addition to 11 rebounds and seven assists, but that wasn’t enough to give Slovenia a win they desperately needed. “Today, I played terrible. I let my team down. I let the whole country that was supporting us down. And that’s on me. I got to look back at this game and be better,” said Doncic after the game. EuroBasket wasn’t all that bad for the Dallas Mavericks superstar. Doncic set a second-best scoring performance in a single game in the tournament’s history in Slovenia’s game against France when he netted historic 47 points for his home country.
