Manchester City Complete Historic Treble with Champions League Win

Manchester City’s quest to lift the Champions League and write their name in history books is finally over! They completed the historic treble with a Champions League win against Inter Milan in Istanbul, becoming only the second English club in history to win three major UEFA tournaments in a single season. Man City lifted their very first Champions League trophy after defeating Inter Milan 1-0 on Saturday. Rodri’s 68th-minute strike was somewhat of a miracle since it only marked just his second Champions League goal in 48 appearances, but that was all it took for his team to beat Inter Milan. Man City’s win is quite historic since it comes shortly after they won Premier League and FA Cup. By doing so, they became the first English club since Manchester United in 1999 to lift all of these three trophies and complete the coveted UEFA treble. This triumph was a long time coming for Man City’s manager Pep Guardiola. He said that their win at the Champions League was written in the stars, but added that being a good team is not all about winning trebles. “People say I have to win trebles every season. I am a good manager, but no. I like this competition for the fact we won it, it is part of history and players will be remembered for the rest of their lives. But now give credit for the five Premier Leagues won in six years,” said Guardiola.
