Mohamed Salah Kicks 2024 Off with Two Goals in Liverpool’ Win Against Newcastle

Liverpool are entering 2024 as Premier League leaders, and they owe their latest victory to Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian player led the Reds to a 4-2 win over Newcastle United after changing his unlucky boots and scoring two amazing goals on Monday night. After a goalless first half, both Liverpool and Newcastle gave it their all when they hit the pitch again. Salah scored the first goal for the Reds four minutes into the second half before Alexander Isak evened out the score for Newcastle. Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo helped the Reds regain their lead, before Salah sealed the deal with a late penalty shot, leading his side to a 4-2 win. Salah made history as the fifth player to score 150 Premier League goals for a single club, and his luck turned after he changed his boots before the second half kicked off. “It's not superstition, because I play with many boots, but when I feel like it's going to be in my head, it's out, get new boots. I don't like to be going to the second half thinking 'I haven't scored in them'. Just change, make my mind calm, and focus on my game," explained Salah. This victory sends Liverpool three points clear at the top of the Premier League table, ahead of Aston Villa, Man City, Arsenal, and Tottenham.
