Nick Taylor Scores Historic Win at RBC Canadian Open

The RBC Canadian Open kept us on the edge of our seats until the very last second, but Nick Taylor eventually managed to lift the trophy. He defeated Tommy Fleetwood in a marathon four-hole playoff, and his win was quite historic for more reasons than one. This year’s Canadian Open was full of wild twists and turns, and one of the biggest shockers came when Taylor managed to pull ahead with a massive 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth hole – which just happens to be the longest putt of his career. This victory wasn’t only a proud moment for Taylor, but for his home country of Canada, as well. He made history as the first Canadian citizen to win the Canadian Open since 1954, and the first one born in Canada to lift the trophy at this tournament since 1914. Taylor said he’s pretty speechless after breaking Canada’s losing curse, and he dedicated his win to all the guys who’ve been trying to come out victorious through the years. "I don't think it's going to sink in for quite some time what happened today. With the rain coming down, the slope, obviously, we knew it was going to be slow. To get it there was, obviously, a bit of a surprise honestly. For that to drop is – it was a huge surprise but an amazing one," said Taylor post-match.
