Penguins End Colorado's NHL-Record Road Winning Streak After 15 Games

The Colorado Avalanche haven’t suffered a single loss on the road in the last six months, but all good things must come to an end. Their winning streak came crashing down on Thursday after 15 games when they suffered a devastating loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Colorado was down on their luck in Pittsburgh and they suffered an unexpected 4-0 defeat to the Penguins. Tristan Jarry stopped 31 shots from reaching the Penguins’ net, while Reilly Smith scored twice to lead the team to a well-deserved 4-0 victory. Colorado head coach Jared Bednar praised the Penguins’ performance after the game, and said they ended up losing because they faced "a desperate hockey team that played with a lot of urgency.” “Even though our intent was OK, like I didn’t feel like we were sleeping or anything, I just felt like for the first 40 minutes, they were on point, physical, highly competitive. We didn’t execute through that at all,” said Bednar after the game. The Avalanche haven’t suffered a single loss on the road since March, but they aren’t too devastated now that their winning streak is over. The defenseman Cale Makar described this defeat as “a learning lesson” and added they knew they were going to lose at some point.
