PSG Beat Borussia Dortmund to Make It To UCL Knockout Stage

The final qualifying matches for the Champions League knockout phase have taken place this week, and Paris St-Germain is one of the latest teams to make it through. PSG narrowly advanced to the next round of the competition after forcing a draw with an already-qualified Borussia Dortmund. The face-off between PSG and Borussia on Wednesday was set to decide their Champions League future, but the French team struggled to stay on top of their game. After the goalless first half, Karim Adeyemi gave PSG a lead in the second half, but Warren Zaire-Emery forced a draw just five minutes later. Despite failing to defeat Borussia, PSG managed to advance to the knockout stage. They came very close to dropping out, but Milan’s victory against Newcastle helped them end the group stage with eight points, three behind Borussia. Even though they’ve struggled to give it their all in their latest Champions League match, PSG manager Luis Enrique is happy with their progress and certain they’ll only get better. "We are certainly one of the best teams but in the group stage, we faced teams that you could face in the last 16, quarter-finals or semi-finals… It was the most difficult one in the competition. We have managed to qualify," said Enrique post-game.
