Rafael Nadal Defeats Cameron Norrie to Win His Fourth Mexican Open Title

We’re only two months into 2022, but it’s already proving to be Rafael Nadal’s comeback year. Shortly after winning his 21st Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, the Spanish tennis champion won another Mexican Open title, defeating Cameron Norrie in the final. Nadal easily cruised past the British number one Cameron Norrie and managed to defeat him in just two sets with 6-4 6-4. To make the whole thing even more impressive, this extends his winning start to the season to a 15th victory, months after he decided to take a break from tennis to deal with an injury. It took just an hour and 54 minutes for Nadal to wrap up the game, but he admitted Norrie was a formidable opponent until the very last minute. "I went through some very difficult moments during the match that I was able to save, and then I took advantage when I had the chances. I'm very pleased. It was a very important title for me, so I can't be happier," said Nadal after the match. This marks the fourth time that the Spaniard was crowned as the winner of the Mexican Open, and he’s the tournament's youngest and oldest champion, after winning his first title as an 18-year-old in 2005.
