Rory McIlroy Edges Out Robert MacIntyre to Win Scottish Open Title

The Scottish Open title has always been eluding Rory McIlroy, but that finally changed this weekend. The Irish golfer finally scored his first win in Scotland after edging out Robert MacIntyre by a single stroke with a dramatic birdie on the 18th hole. McIlroy came into the final day with a one-shot advantage, but defeating MacIntyre wasn’t an easy task. He set the target at 14 under with a sublime six-under 64, but McIlroy managed to make a comeback with what he described as "one of the best shots I'll hit in my career." It’s been a while since McIlroy’s last big victory, and he said this triumph has given him the validation he needs ahead of the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. “It's great racking up top fives and top tens, but it's much nicer heading away with a trophy on a Sunday afternoon. It's been a long six months since I won in Dubai. I've given myself tons of chances and hopefully, this win breaks the seal for me, especially going into next week,” said McIlroy. The victory at the Scottish Open marks the 24th PGA Tour title of McIlroy’s career, and he’ll be seeking his first major title since 2014 at the Open Championship later this week.
