Shericka Jackson Becomes the Fifth Fastest Woman of All Time

Shericka Jackson is no stranger to winning Olympic medals and setting records, and her latest might be the most impressive one yet. The Jamaican sprinter just became the fifth fastest woman of all time at Jamaica's national championships. Jackson clocked 10.65 seconds to win the 100-meter event in Jamaica, and her latest triumph was quite historic. She tied with American Marion Jones to become the fifth fastest woman in history, but she believes there’s still room for improvement and that her ending needed “a little fixing.” "I know I'm a strong finisher, but I still need to work on that a bit because I made a miss-step, so coach and I will continue working on my stride pattern going forward, It's been tough coming down from the 400-meter to the 100-meter since in 2021," Jackson told Reuters. Jackson’s latest achievement is quite impressive because she became the fifth-fastest woman of all time, tying with Marion Jones. The all-time record of 10.49 hasn’t been broken for over three decades and it was set by Florence Griffith-Joyner in 1988. Jackson will be heading to the World Championships in Budapest in August. She’s currently the only athlete in World Championship history to win medals in the 100, 200, and 400 meters, but she still hasn’t lifted gold in the 100 meter-event.
