Simone Biles Officially Becomes the Most Decorated Gymnast of All Time

Simone Biles has been on fire since making her comeback earlier this year, and she just set another major record. After being awarded her sixth all-around world championship gold at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Biles officially became the most decorated gymnast in history. Biles helped the United States collect their seventh consecutive team title the World Championships in Belgium – and that was just the beginning. She was shining brighter than ever in the individual all-around portion of the competition and collected gold with a score of 58.399 points. This victory took her overall tally to 34 World Championships and Olympic medals, making her the most decorated gymnast of all time. She was visibly emotional after taking the podium alongside silver winner Rebeca Andrade and bronze winner Shilese Jones, but she claims her latest record wasn’t the only thing tearing her up. “I was emotional because it was my first world here, 10 years ago, and then now my sixth one, so it's crazy. I do have something in my eye that's been bothering me for like four hours and I cannot get it out… So while I was looking up there, it was like a combination of both,” said Biles. Biles returned to gymnastics for the first time since the 2020 Summer Olympics in August this year, after taking a break from competition to focus on her mental health.
