Southampton Stuns Man City to Proceed EFL Cup Semi-Finals

Manchester City came into their latest match with Southampton as a clear favorite, and they were expected to score an easy win, but things didn’t exactly go as planned. The Saints achieved a shocking 2-0 victory, securing a spot in the EFL Cup semi-finals. Southampton showed their determination in the very first half and sealed the deal long before the match was over. Sekou Mara and Moussa Djenepo scored goals for the Saints within the first 30 minutes, and Man City spent the rest of the game struggling to make a comeback. This marks the biggest win so far for Nathan Jones, who replaced Ralph Hasenhüttl as the manager back in November. He struggled to prove his worth ever since, but he believes this win will change the way he’s perceived. "I'm proud of the players and proud of the staff. I've had people calling me out, I've even had non-League managers calling me out saying I'm not good enough. It's a proud moment for me. To be on the same level as him (Pep Guardiola) is wonderful," said Jones post-match. Southampton will face Newcastle United in the semi-finals, while the second match will be played between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest. The winners will go head to head in the EFL Cup final on February 26.
