Team Europe Regain Ryder Cup Title with a Dramatic Win in Rome

This year’s Ryder Cup was one wild rollercoaster, but Team Europe eventually came out victorious. Luke Donald led his team to a dramatic win in Rome, where they defeated Team United States to regain the trophy after suffering a humiliating loss last year. Team Europe came into the final day of the tournament determined they could take the Ryder Cup home – and that’s exactly what they did! They were off to a good start after Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, and Tyrrell Hatton won their matches, but hit a rough patch after that. The next four matches to finish all went to Team USA, but the European players weren’t giving up. Tommy Fleetwood won the 11th game to pass the 14½ required to win the tournament, while Shane Lowry sealed the deal, and secured a 16½-11½ win for Team Europe. The team’s captain Luke Donald said that he’s glad they were able to win after putting everything into this tournament and added everyone contributed to this epic victory. "It's been a rollercoaster since I got the job 14 months ago. Something I always dreamed about. These are the times, I have had so many special moments on golf courses. It was just an honor and privilege to captain these 12 guys, incredible guys. They played their hearts out," said Donald after the final match.
