World Cup 2022 Week 1: 5 Matches That Stole the Show

It’s been a week since the 2022 FIFA World Cup finally kicked off in Qatar and it’s given us several matches that kept us on the edge of our seats. Here are five epic face-offs that got everyone talking during Week 1. Argentina vs. Saudi Arabia Argentina came into this World Cup as one of the favorites, with Lionel Messi serving as their captain, so it was quite a shocker to see them lose their first match to Saudi Arabia 1-2. England vs. United States England is one of the world’s leading forces in the world of football, and their match against the United States should’ve resulted in an easy win, but it led to an underwhelming goalless draw. At least they defeated Iran 6-2 in their opening match. Portugal vs. Ghana Portugal easily bested Ghana in their World Cup face-off. Cristiano Ronaldo led his country to a 3-2 victory and went down in history as the first man to score at five different FIFA World Cups. Germany vs. Japan Germany is quite a force in the world of football, but that didn’t stop them from losing their opening game for the second World Cup in a row to Japan. France vs. Denmark France came into this year’s World Cup as a defending champion, and they already have two victories under their belt, against Australia and Denmark, largely thanks to Kylian Mbappé.
