World Cup Draw: Germany Meeting Spain, England to Face United States

After months of anticipation and countless epic games leading up to it, the 2022 World Cup draw finally took place on Friday in Doha, Qatar. The draw has thrown out some intriguing fixtures our way, with many amazing face-offs to look out for when World Cup returns this fall. The tournament will kick off on November 21, and the opening match will see hosts Qatar face Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. A total of four games are set to take place on the opening day, including face-offs between Senegal and the Netherlands, England and Iran, and the US and the winner of the UEFA Path A game, set to take place in June. Some of the most interesting fixtures that Friday’s draw revealed are matches between the UK and the US on November 25, Argentina and Mexico plus Denmark and France on November 26, and Germany and Spain on November 27. Three slots are still empty, and they’ll be filled up following the UEFA play-off between Wales and the winner of Scotland vs. Ukraine, an intercontinental play-off involving Costa Rica and New Zealand, and the AFC v CONMEBOL game featuring Peru and the winner of Australia vs the United Arab Emirates.
