Wyndham Clark Wins His First Major Title at 2023 US Open

Wyndham Clark has been trying to lift his first major trophy since the start of his career as a pro golfer, and his wait is finally over. The 29-year-old American cruised past Rory McIlroy and managed to beat him by one shot to win the US Open in Los Angeles this weekend. Despite entering the game as the world no. 32 and never finishing better than 75th in a major championship, Clark has done it all to prove his worth. He shot a final-round 70 to finish at 10-under-par, holding off four-time major champion Rory McIlroy by only one shot. Clark dedicated his win to his late mother, who died of breast cancer in 2013. He teared up while talking about her during his winner’s interview, and said he feels like she was watching over him. “I’ve worked so hard and I’ve dreamed about this moment for so long. There’s been so many times I’ve visualized being here in front of you guys and winning this championship. I just feel like it was my time,” said Clark after his epic win. Wyndham Clark’s victory is quite historic because he became the fifth successive player to win his first major at the US Open.
