Yoshinobu Yamamoto Agrees to $325 Million Deal with LA Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been on somewhat of a spending spree lately, and they reportedly struck a lucrative deal with another star player. Yoshinobu Yamamoto has found his new home in LA after agreeing to a $325 million deal with the Dodgers. The Japanese pitcher’s free agency will soon end after the Dodgers agreed to a 12-year deal, worth $ 325 million deal, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. He reportedly received offers in the $300+ million range from the New York Mets and the New York Yankees before deciding to sign with the Dodgers. Yamamoto’s deal is yet to be finalized and is still pending a physical, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. It comes with an additional $50.6 million for the posting fee to his former team the Orix Buffaloes, and a $50 million signing bonus. Yamamoto's deal is the largest ever given to a pitcher in MLB history, beating the record previously held by Gerrit Cole's contract with the New York Yankees. Yamamoto isn’t the first player to score a major deal with the Doggers in the past few weeks. He’ll be joining Japanese countryman Shohei Ohtani, who signed a record $700 million, 10-year contract earlier this month. The Dodgers recently cashed out another $136.5 million to acquire Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays.
